Which browser do you use?

Firefox since back when it was called Firebird. When it's not available I go Opera. I wouldn't trust IE to open about:blank.

EDIT: And Zanth, the Memory Leak was fixed very early in the 1.5 beta stages. It doesn't exist in 1.5 and 1.5.0.1. I've had as many as 80 tabs open at once, full sites - not text only, closed them, opened more, and never had issues. Who keeps a browser open for DAYS anyhow? I keep my desktop clean and close stuff when I'm done with it.

It actually does still exist. The "fix" was not a true fix and it does not work perfectly at all, particularly it seems with 64 bit processors. I run the current version of all my software and I have more trouble now with Firefox than I ever have. Also, for keeping browsers open for days, it depends on what you do I guess. I develop many applications and one application I work with requires a web browswer. Given this, I maintain my preferred tabs (news.google, head-fi, a few others) along with my app and off I go. But, even with normal browsing of an image intensive site one gets mangled quickly.

I keep my desktop clean and close stuff when I'm done with it too. But I guess next time I'll submit pix of my desktop along with any future posts regarding web browswers before submit

I used FireFox for a while, then switched to Opera. Recently I got set on Internet Explorer 7. I will see how it goes, but seems nice so far.

I started at Mozilla Phoenix 0.5, and now I'm using Firefox. I really do like Opera more than Firefox, but until there's a good alternative to AdBlock, I won't be switching.

for me the password wizard, tabbed browsing, and MOUSE GESTURES are what keep me in opera. I didn't like that when I shift clicked in ff I would open a new taskbar window. Opera doesn't do that. And I couldn't go back to using a browser without mouse gestures. They're just too useful and natural for me to abandon. (Yes I know ff has mouse gestures, where do you think they got the idea from??

)

With the Firefox built in search bar, are you able to pop up a new window for the page your searching? If not, i may need to get the google toolbar.

I used to be a IE user for the longest time. That is until about 6-7 months ago I tried Firefox. I have used firefox ever since. Anyone who hasn't tried it yet is missing out.

Re: Firefox memory leaks -- from what I read over mozillazine.org, Firefox does not just have one memory leak, but many leaks. Every one in the programming team is aware of them, but fixing them is not as easy as one think. The "leak" metaphor is misleading -- Unlike the leaks on, say, a boat, memory "leaks" are not something you can stop by "plugging" a software patch on a program. Some of the more difficult bugs will require a big rewriting of the code.

The next big version of Firefox will see a new graphics engine. Apart from improved rendering, one can hope that some pesky memory problems will end.

I voted for Mozilla FireFox, but I am using Epiphany which is the standard web browser for RHFC4 SELinux and GNOME. It is by far faster, more efficient, and simpler along with using up less memory.

I think that was version 0.7 that was really sweet. It didn't even have an installer back then which is a big plus in my books.

Looking at the last few posts, perhaps I should go back to 0.7 (I kept it around just in case things got too bloated).

A stripped down browser for the PC Crowd recommended by the freeware junkie community, found at pricelessware.org, is OffByOne. Less compatible/functional than firefox but should be sleaker and speedier.
