After making a decision on getting the DT-880's & would be my 1st pair of phones in 35 years, believe it or not. Anyway, I see at least 3 differant versions of the 880 on-line.. looks to be a pre 2005, 2005 & a newer version & maybe even more versions. Just need to know if it matters which dt-880. I will be building my own amp for these so know worries there. I seem to be able to get them for 200-300. I read enough reviews to blow my head & dt-880 it is this round.

I would just go ahead and get the '05, 250 ohm version since that should be pretty easy to nab. I'll say that I've never heard them as good as with my new LD MK II.

Others should chime in with some sound quality differences, since that particular model seems to be very polarizing.
