Can anyone offer me some advice which asynch USB converter I can use with a MAC? I have some music files up to 192kHz that I would like to play via USB. But info on suitable USB converters for MAC use is proving impossible for me to find.

That's strange. I've never owned a Mac but I do know that all the best audio interfaces were originally designed to work on Apple hardware because at that time Macs had the best audio. They are still the first choice for professionals with deep pockets even now.

So basically any interface you choose will work on a Mac and the drivers will be fixed for that platform first should the need arise.

You don't mention what version Os or either a budget or a list of requirements so a specific recommendation is problematic.

As an example here's a very good one. ~$600

here is an less expensive one. ~$100

There is a large number of USB Asynch DACs that will work with either Mac or Windows.  You might consider the
IFI - MICRO iDAC for about $300.
