Total newbie, here. Not an audiophile in any way.

I just got the 250 ohm DT770, and they sound great even on my 2010 MacBook Pro and iPhone 5; however, I do find myself upping the volume to max or near-max levels. Yes, I know the 80/32 ohm versions are generally better for consumer devices, but I went with the 250 mostly due to my budget. Sometime in the future, though, I'd like to get an amp so I can get the most out of them.

Any suggestions for an amp? I'm not recording/mixing/mastering or anything. I was thinking of going with one of the FiiO amps, but if you think another brand suits me better for my applications, please let me know.

Thanks!

Budget?

Fiio E11 is nice for its price

Thanks for the reply.

I'm a little concerned about issues with the input jack after only a few months (http://www.amazon.com/review/R3R6RC7IBWV45I/ref=cm_cr_pr_viewpnt#R3R6RC7IBWV45I). What would be your next recommendation? I suppose I'm okay spending a little more if it's worth it.

Then you'll want to look at this one, too: http://www.head-fi.org/t/620775/the-sub-200-portable-amps-shootout-13-11-amps-compared

Rankings follow the reviews.

There may be some other portable amps out there in your budget range, but those two shootouts do a good job of hitting some of the most popular :)

Thanks, but I am actually looking for portable. Sorry for not mentioning that.

So, after looking through the guides, I'm still a little lost; this was my reaction: http://giant.gfycat.com/JealousSerpentineIndigobunting.gif

I guess I'm trying to choose among the E07k, E12, and E17. Will the E07k not be enough to fully/optimally power the 250ohm (for my relatively simple applications)? If so, is it better for me to get the E12 or E17? Would I need the E17's amp/DAC combo if I'm using my MacBook Pro and iPhone 5?

Thanks!
