A pair of Beyerdynamic DT 1770 Pro is on the way to me, and soon the Beyerdynamic DT 1990 Pro as well when my dealer gets them.

They will be replacing my old and worn out Beyerdynamic 770 Pro which has "grown on me" over the years and i truly have appreciated.

I prefer the sound:

- Analytical
- Neutral
- Clean
- Detailed
- Great imaging
- and maybe with a tiny, tiny little bit of warmth. But very, very minimal to the warm side.

Unfortunately there are no serious hi-fi dealers here in the Faroe Islands which means i have to order an amplifier for the 1770 and 1990 without hearing the combos first.

I listen to everything from classical to jazz and speach programs on radio.

Any suggestions for an amp suitable for my needs to the 1770 and 1990?

If it's only a headphone amp only i will not spend more than 600-700 USD.

I'm open for suggestions to a decent amp serving as pre-amp in my system as well, not above 2000 USD.

Thanks in advance :)

A tube amp made in Hong Kong for 240 USD. No offense, but for real?

For real, I have one sitting next to my PC :)
Retail price in the USA for the 336SE is normally around $325.
Massdrop will sell it for $200 (+tax/shipping), when they buy in bulk.

The $240 price, shipped from Hong Kong, is a good value.

You can buy different tubes to change the sound.

Maybe buy a few different tubes, have extra just in case.

In the Faroe Islands, can you guys grow much food, in the ground?
Do you even have any exports?

No food export. Thanks for your input.

Any other suggestions based on real listening experiences?

The Darkvoice 336SE ($240) is about as much as I would spend for a tube amp.
There are other brands like Littledot and Schiit.

Hi all, since this thread relates to both the DT1770 and DT1990, I hope the OP wont mind a brief Hijack... I'm looking at both of these but cannot decide which to go for.  Full and honest comparisons between the two, are hard to find.  I'm hoping those of you contributing to this thread might be able to help me out, either by reply on here (again, hope OP wont mind), or by sending me a PM ?  I'm hoping to place an order on Amazon ASAP, so any help would be useful.  Thanks.

I wonder what you end up buying cause I am in the same boat as you owning both headphones soon.

I have both 1770 and 1990, and I am very happy with their own amp, the Beyerdynamic A2. you can find it pre-owned for that budget. Also Lake People G111 would be a good choice
