I got a pair of Beyerdynamic DT770 PRO (80 ohm) headphones and I was thinking of getting a headphone amp. I don't know anything about this so I hope someone can help me with a recommendation. I'm going to use it with my PC and FPS gaming. I'm not sure how much I should use to get some quality, but maybe something around $200? I don't have a good sound card (I'm using the one the one on my motherboard). Because of this I think I want a amp/DAC combo, and it does not need to be portable.

I have changed this post a bit.

I don't want to spend $250 if I can get something good for a lower price

Do you have a cheaper suggestion?

Do you have optical out? If you do I suggest looking into the Zero DAC/Amp. A good desktop Amp/DAC will always be better than a portable one. Just kidding, not always, but the Zero will be a good desktop solution, for cheaper than a D2. Although, I really like the D2.

Yeah, I have optical out.

EDIT: I read about the Zero in the "Review: ZERO 24 BIT/192KHz DAC/Headphone Amp/Pre-Amp" thread and this amp is very interesting. It looks like a great first amp for me. Is it easy to change he DAC and amp chip?
