Hi, when you buy a DAC that has no volume knob in it, for example a Dragonfly Cobalt, then you connect it to your PC and set the voume to 10%, now you plug it off, go to your laptop and use it there... what's the volume then?
Is the value stored inside the Dragonfly?
I'm just asking to get a better understanding. I had another DAC like this that could not remember it's volume on the same PC even when it stayed connected to the USB port. It got reset to 100% on hibernate as well as on reboot.
So, with some understanding I should be able to decide if I want a DAC with a volume knob in it, which would indicate that it is keeping the volume like a potentiometer, hopefully.
