Hi all:

A quick question, as I am somewhat new to this. Do most of you hook up a headphone amp directly to a source, or do you use a tape out on a preamp (or intagrated amp)? Better sound one way or another? Thanks in advance!

The best sound would be directly out of the source. I usually have mine hooked to a tape out, far more convenient. For me it's a good trade for not having to keep removing the connectors of my CDP.

Kevin,

Just make sure of one thing: use the line out on the back of your unit, not the variable out. The variable out is run thru the headphone jack so that you can vary the volume. This will degrade the sound some. The less the signal goes thru, the better!! If you have an extra line out on the source, ie cd player, hook directly to that. If not, hookup the headamp to an available output on the preamp.

If no one has said so already, welcome to head-fi, sorry about the wallet!!!!
