Hi,

I about to embark on building the Scott Nixon TubeDac. Ideally, I would like to follow the familiar tubey style: Tube sticking out at front, toroid transformer at rear underneath a sweet chrome cover.

Does anybody know where I could source such a cover? The toroid I am thinking of using is 70mm diamater, 32mm high.

I am located in the UK, so a UK supplier would be preferable, but not required.

Alternatively, can anyone think of an object the right shape that I could get chromed.

Know any chromers?

TIA,

I see DIY kits on ebay all of the time. I e-mailed someone who bought one of those kits that uses a 'wand' for plating smaller objects, and he e-mailed me back telling me that he had good results. The kits go for $29-$39 US dollars.

Here is a US supplier of kits that allow you to chrome/nickel/gold plate small items.

http://www.micromark.com

Just click on "plating" in the left hand column.

I've never tried them so I can't vouch for the quality.
