I bought akg q701s and according to madlust's gaming guide that I should replace the current ear pads on these 701s and put akg k712 pro ear pads ( im guessing its the memory foam?)

But idk where to buy it or what to specifically search for. HELP!

1) Head over to AKG.com,
2) Click your country at the bottom
3) Scroll down and click Technical Support
4) Find e-mail of Spare Parts
5) E-mail the contact requesting pricing and availability of part no. 5021871. (That's the pad's part number. It's priced as per, not pairs)

I found this thread because I am looking for K712 ear pads too.  Putting that part number in search engine shows it's the correct part number for the AKG K702/65th Annies BUT the K712 thread shows photos indicating that these are not the correct ones for the K712.  While they are very similar (velour and memory foam) the Annie has pads that are more "donut" shaped and the K712 are more like a true cylinder, with straight inner and outer walls.

YMMV...

I have just confirmed it today, the K712 earpads fit on the Q701. Supposedly, it is supposed to sound like the k7xx, and it does exactly that. With the K712 pads on the Q701, it makes the treble less harsh, and more natural. Soundstage is also better imo. If you would prefer to keep your current sound, then stick with the Q701 pads. However, if you want treble that isn't as harsh, and a more natural sound stage, then change them. Or just get K7xx lol

Where did you order the k712 pads from. Loving my Q701, but would like to swap Earpads. Also, how much were they?

I actually didn't buy them haha, my friend has a pair of K712s at his place, and I have the Q701, so we tried the experiment a while ago. If you look on my page, I actually posted a classified asking where to get the K712 earpads, and there were several community members who directed me on where to get them. I think it's still open, if not I'll re-open it for you, because they did say where you can get them.

Depends were you are. Don't believe what certain companies put on their websites, some advertise pads as being for : "K702, K702 Anniversary, K701, K601, K712/K612 Pro" which is impossible since they use differenty pads. The K712, K7XX and Annie (the so called revision 2 with newer earpads) are the only three that use the same earpads.

You need part number 502187. Just do a Google search for AKG earpads 5021871and you will find stores in Germany and the US. You could also contact AKJG support in your area and ask for that part number. The part number is for 1 pad though.

Thanks for the replyear man!

I actually found that Dekoni through Massdrop has a pretty good selection of pads. Now I'm just waiting for the pads to drop again.
