Wondering if there are any Hi-Fi shops in the Chicago area to audition high efficiency speakers, such as horns, with low powered tube amps?. I've been to Holm Audio and while they have some tube gear, it's mostly higher powered amps as they don't carry any very efficient speakers. They tried playing some 91db Triangle speakers with an ASL 2A3 SET amp, obviously with little success.

Is Penthouse Audio still around in Chicago? If so they might be a place to try.

Well Ken, since Celestial sound went out of business in Evanston, your best bet would be Symphony sound on the south side (I have never been) or ProMusica (never been either). Its too bad about Celestial, they were pretty cool (lent me alot of tubes), and had AvanteGarde and Vienna acoustics. If you want INefficient, My friend owns the only Linn dealership in the area, downtown on Wabash. They have AE, ATC, Linn, Primare equipment, but can get Meridian and other things. None of those will work with your new killer amp. I am in the market for these kinds of speakers as well. I hve been looking at the 2A3 tube also, just in the Fi X amp. Shoot me a PM.

When did Celestrial go out of business? I was living in downtown evanston temporarily when it first opened, and I would walk over there and check out gear a couple times a week. They had some really nice equipment.

Awesome! when did the Chicago store open?
I've been to the Champaign store once (Great place), but it's too far away.
Chicago is much closer.
