FYI, there is no audible difference between lossless formats -- that includes resolutions. You will also probably never hear a difference between 256 kbps AAC and lossless. The only thing that really matters is the recording / master.

There are benefits to seeking out high-res downloads, since many of them were recorded using higher quality techniques, mastered better, and so on. If you ever buy high-res versions of CDs you own, just try to make sure the high-res version came from a different master; otherwise, it will sound the same as the CD you already paid for.
