Where do Bose Triports Over the Ears Headphones stand on the Great list of headphones, by price and quality?

I have only tried the bose and was very impressed, but I am hoping to buy nicer headphones around $100.

I have read a lot of good things about the Alessandro MS1s, Whats the benefit of having open headphones?

I dont like the idea of everyone hearing what i listen to.

the bose are okay if they are priced abit low. I would buy them if they are at $50.

I agree, for a $50-60 can they might be worth it, but certainly not for the full price they're going for. You can find much nicer cans for the same price or lower like a Grado or maybe the Denon D1000. It's a little depressing to think that I paid about the same price for the triports that I did for my HD600s

Try the DT770's for that price. I bet you'll laugh at Bose at that point.

They sound better than the triports as well.

Brand recognition (expectation?) sure has a strong effect on some folks. I know a guy who has a pair of 560 Ovations and he bought the OE triports cause he got a slight deal on them. He tells me they sound better than the senns because they have "subwoofer" bass. Then he said my RP-21s were light on bass. At this point I should have said puff puff pass. Those bose were so dull and muddy to me I thought they were MDR-V150s in disguise. Bose could probably charge $400 + for lets say rebadged KSC-75s. To each his own I guess.

x2 on the dt770's. I listened to a pair of the bose triports a while back. Muddy was an understatement. At $150 for beyer dt770 on ebay or less on the for sale forums here, you would be blown away compared to bose imo.

I think I am leaning toward the Grado sr60/80 and Senn HD280pro for the good prices.

Or maby the Dt770s will be worth the extra cash.

Now that i think of it, dt770 is a bit expensive for me.
Sr60/80, Ms-1, Senn 280pro, and DT231 Galactic is what im lookin at.
err still stuck with a long list.
