where can I get an inexpensive linear power supply?

Hello,

You can pick up a PSU kit. Those aren't high output, but it outputs 1A or so easy.

I use dual kind in my amp and am very happy with it. I kinda upgraded with better caps, however.

P.S. I like 5V PSU from DaLode. I can stack few to make 15V PSU. The one you talk of is probably switching PSU.

Try the Elpac WM080 or one of the similar units. They're wall-wart style, which can be a plus or a minus depending on your perspective. These supplies have essentially no ripple on their outputs and very little noise. They run cool, they're light, and they're readily available.
