Same reason why people don't use the straight cord M50 when going outside.

I have more problems with the portablitiy of my Shures Coiled cable to any straight cable I've ever used.

Why don't these companies ever send two cables, one is the stock cable which goes for about 1.2 meters, the other is an extention. That would be so much easier  then having to resolder new cables for ever pair of studio headphones I get.

The 595 and 598 cable "looks" the same. Part# 510626. Sennheiser is not going to sell a shorter cable though. Find someone who can solder and have them shorten the cable for you.

No no no. The new HD5x8 have detachable cables terminated in a 4-pole bayonet jack, they are different from the HD555/595 cables. Senn doesn't seem to sell replacement cables for the new cans yet. If they eventually do, buy one and cut it to your desired length.

I might just go to a electronic store and ask if they can make it short and see if that works. if not i guess im stuck with 10 ft of cables lol
