A friend of mine gave me a set of Sony MDR-RF970R wireless headphones a few months ago and they worked fine until about a week ago.  Now, when I hook them up to anything, I can still hear what I am trying to listen to but there is a weird scrambled signal that is on top of it.  Nothing about my listening environment has changed nor has my equipment has changed since then. 
 
Any clue why it is having the weird scrambled sound over the audio all of the sudden? 
 
Could the battery in the headset be dieing?  Is it a problem with the base not transmitting the signal correctly anymore?

I'm starting to think the battery may be fine.  Seems like it might be the transmitter base that has the issue.  What do you guys think?
