What's the purpose of the earhooks for the IEMs?

I have the Sennheiser ie7 and I noticed they come with earclips. I assume that their purpose is to "mold" the cable behind the ear so after a while you don't need the earclips. Or are they intended to be worn at all times? Because I find them a bit uncomfortable.

Any help is appreciated thanks!

AFAIK those are supposed to minimize microphonics (sound when the cables are knocked around)

So if you don't have a problem with that ^ then you don't need to wear the hooks all the time.

i ve never used mine too.

IE7 dont have much microphonics anyway.
