now i just notice that my fren's CD player is L-shape one.but i can plug in my hd 202 to the remote. the problem is...both of his jack for remote and phone jack that come along with the CD player, are gold plated.would it affect much if i plug my hd 202 which is nikel plated to his gold plated jack port?

yup, many of u told me about this. that's why i always hate myself for being too rush in buying a pair of new cans, as my old PX 40 is really only for portable and easy listening. Think of upgrading to a new pair in near future, provided that i can get a part time job and earn enough money to get one

now i think maybe i should not get an amp for my hd 202, coz i really think it would be a waste to have a headamp for this low-end hd 202. BUt i can tell u that i'm not the one who can survive long with my cans. i would upgrade if i got $$.but for the time being, i need to learn as much as i can from u all, in order to be more experience in head-fi. Threfore, to purchase the right and suitable cans for myself, at least i wont be too unsatisfied with the cans i buy

if you're really hellbent, you can buy L to non L adapters at your local radioshak.

gold is better, cause it's more expensive!
hehe, but seriously, isn't gold supposed to conduct electricity better? or is that just a myth? i'm sure the difference is soooo negligible anyway...

i think the deal with gold is that it prevents corrosion or rusting for a longer period of time

The L-shape jack is shaped like an 'L'.

The straight plug follows a straight line.

Euclid covered this before, I think.

The nickel-plated jack is plated with the chemical element nickel.

The gold-plated jack is plated with the chemical element gold.

as for gold plated jack and nikel plated jack, i cant really hear it out using my cans.I borrow my fren's Panasonic SL-MP50(if i'm not wrong with the model number), which come with the L-shape and gold plated jack earphone(yucks, the outlook of the earphone really bugs me, and it's not comfy at all).I listen to it,i feel that the vocal is a bit dry and the sound output is a bit hard. When i plug in my cans to the remote, i can say the headphone in jack is not gold plated(correct me if i'm wrong), i can feel that it cant really drive my cans well..and before i forget...the jack at the end of the remote, again,is gold plated...does it really matter if my nikel plated cans is connected to a gola plated jack?even i turn the volume to the highest and try to blast it, the volume is really low and the sound output is damn soft. what the...

But don't know my judgement is correct or not. Anyone can share their experience with me? thank you
