MagusG, even though you were a little rude, I still apreciate your comments rather then you just not saying anything. I want as much feedback as possible about the z560s good or bad. So if anybody as anything to say about them go ahead.

Puppet,
For the z560s you don't need the banana connectors et al.. just stick in the bare wire, and you should be just fine.. the bananas don't make much of a difference IMO.. I owned the z560 and subsequently the z680, and I must say they were great, if not awesome at that price range.. The Promedia line is not like a night and day difference compared to the Logitech, and believe me, I have researched and auditioned PC speakers for at least a month, so don't be ashamed or be put down by someone who thinks just because they are cheap-they ought to sound cheap.. The z560s are a better musical sounding setup than the expensive z680, so you made your choice well.. don't bother with upgrades and all that fuss, just enjoy the sound, and save the money for bigger and better things down the road.

I've used that sort of cable from Radio Shack before, it isn't bad for the price. There are two main uses for the connectors:
1) Providing a contact surface that won't tarnish - Plugs are usually gold plated with the wire soldered to them so you don't have to worry about the copper oxidizing over time.
2) Ease of use - You can pull them off and put them on much faster and easier than bare wire, so if you plug and unplug a lot or move gear around a lot they are more convenient.
If you're trying to cut out all the costs you can, I wouldn't worry a lot about the connectors, unless you intend to move stuff around a lot. I've run bare wire many times when I was your age and it's fine. You might want to clean the wires every six months to a year to remove oxidation. There are commercial solutions out there for this or I think you could just use something like baking soda, though I've never actually tried it. The dirt cheap way to go is just to cut off a bit of the ends so you get wire that hasn't been exposed to oxygen and then rebind the wire, that's what I used to do when I bothered with it, though with those speakers it never really made a difference. (When I was your age I had a quad system with four speakers that were for an office PA system that I had given to me and I'm sure your Logitechs would beat them all to heck!
