Whats the difference between Brainwavz M1's and the Brainwavs Pro Alphas?

Yes, they are excellent resellers, although the shipping is usually not the fastest.
 
ProAlpha = warm, low-centered
M1 = more flat, compared to ProAlpha emphasis on detail / highs
 
You want bass and a "fun" sound -> ProAlpha
You want to listen to classical music or just prefer a detailed sound -> M1
(You want ProAlpha with slightly improved build and sound -> M2; you want to have all strengths combined and even better sound -> M3)

Do both the ProAlpha and the M1 have similar quality? Not only sound, but build quality etc.?

I can't definitely tell you that as there are no ProAlpha reviews yet. As they are made in the same factory, the build quality is most probably the same. PA has additional strain reliefs, though, so maybe they'll last just a little longer.

But again, the main difference that should make your decision is what kind of sound you prefer.

And I agree, the problem is, these are for my sister, and she doesn't have a cluie what she likes. I'm the audiophile of the family

The thing is, if you wait for the reviews, you're gonna have to pay 10$ more for either. And as they are nothing but rebranded ViSang R02, the reviews won't be very surprising. You could try this: let your sister try your all-around best earphones, once with a low-centered eq (60hz +8, 100hz +6, 600hz +4 etc.) and once with high-centered eq (20khz +8, 16khz +6, 12khz +4 etc.). Of course that doesn't come very close to the actual frequency response differences, but you just want to know her general sound preference. In fact, it would probably suffice to know which genres she listens to – electronica/rock -> PA; classical/jazz/etc. -> M1

Yeah, but she'd have to wait anyways. She, unlike me, is stone broke. And she listens to a VERY broad spectrum of music. I'll try the earphone thing though.
 
Personally, I'm going for the Pro Alpha's, but that'll be next year My next purchase will be some over-ears, probably rx700's.
