hey there are alwys exceptions
and as for the benchmark, it is not going anywhere until i find 20K to buy myself a Linn Sondek or unidisk1.1
which probably is 3-4 years away.

Have you guys tried any of the DACs people are building for speaker systems (although most headphone users are using plans from same sources)? Most wouldn't have a headphone amp, but I'm wondering how they compare to the Benchmark.

Also, are there any DACs that output <2 Channels that are worthwhile?

I would've liked a smoother sound plus a little bit more dynamics. Other than that, everything was ok.
