That is only free for a limited time, IIRC.

If nothing else, you can open up a group of files in foobar (the music player), select, right click -> Convert and select mp3 and desired bitrate.  The first time you ever do it, it will ask for the location of an mp3 encoder.  Download a latest stable LAME (highest-quality, so "minimum quality reduction") mp3 encoder and save.  Point foobar to the .exe you extracted, and it can go ahead and create all the mp3s.  Every time after, you just click Convert and it will happen.  This is what I use, but I use foobar as my music player to begin with.

I've always used FLACsquisher. It's free, open source, and is pretty cross platform thanks to its support of Mono. I haven't tried the newest version under Linux but the old one did everything except convert to MP3 when used in Linux. The new one should have that fixed.

Gonna ask the same question so not gonna bother with a new thread... what's a good free one that is using the LATEST lame encoder?

I'm not sure if it uses the latest lame encoder or not but FLACsquisher is the one I use now. Give it a download if you haven't already found a solution

You can just use lame itself. It can read and convert from flac as well as wav so all you need is a binary of the latest lame.

Code:
lame myfile.flac

will produce myfile.mp3

If you don't want to use the command line then probably the next simplest thing is lamedrop http://www.rarewares.org/mp3-lamedrop.php

It is free and open source, uses latest lame and has a really simple interface.
