Is it all just cosmetics, or does using wood have acoustic benefits?

Think of it this way- would you rather have a speaker enclosure made from wood or plastic? --YES! and they look really cool too

It is indeed not just for show. Think of why there are plastic and wooden clarinets...and all the wooden ones are priced higher and sound better.

Resonance along wood is indeed better in aspects compared to other material that could be used for headphone enclosures.

Blasphemy!
Burn the heretic!

Or at least dunk him in water and see if he floats. If he's heavier than a duck and lighter than a pair of W100s, we'll let him live.

uhh, that's totally different. Instruments actually make their own sound, so the acoustic resonance is very important in the tone of the sound it produces. In headphones, it's the diaphragm that produces the sound, which obviously isn't wooden.

I'm not claiming that wood doesn't make a difference, but that the difference isn't the same as for wooden instruments. Plus, not all wood is created alike, so some wood might be worse than other woods

So you DON'T consider $100,000 speakers, "High End?"
