Naim CD5i gets kicked in the ^**. Dug up a fossil - a Kodak Photo CD player PCD-270 and for kicks hooked it up to the HK/Stax system to compare to the Naim and various portables. I need to give it more time but this comparison leaves me wondering what is under the hood of this Kodak marketing failure made in Belgium. It is punchier than the Naim if slightly less refined and more laid back in the highs, and the bass is phenomenal through the Stax - punchy, tight, and very deep. Plus a very wide soundstage. Pinpoint imaging, no smear.

Someone else must have one of these, someone other than else must know something about the design.
