Whenever I experiment like this, I always grab the weakest album. It's a
curse. Or I get one with a "radio song" I like and find out that it is
completely unrepresentative of their sound. I've got too many CDs with
one good song on them.

thanks,

I started with Aenima, went to Lateralus, 10,000 Days, and finally Undertow. I think that's a good order. I think you should start with Aenima or Lateralus then work your way to Undertwo if you want some of the harder stuff or to 10,000 Days if you want some more "out-there" stuff. Really, though, you'll love em all and want them all sooner or later so it doesn't matter too much.

Start with Aenima > Lateralus> Undertow> 10,000 Days and if you're a die hard fan then move on to Opiate. They are all great albums either way

As of right now the thing called a "bad Tool album" or a "bad Tool song" doesn't exist. Just pick up any of their albums and be happy. If I had to recommend a starting album, I would have to go with Lateralus, as it was my first, and it worked out pretty well for me.

Undertow is the quintessential Tool album!

My favorite is Lateralus although Aenima is quite wonderful. I'm a bit disappointed by 10,000 days, but maybe it just needs time to grow on me.

I agree with the majority of the posters, Lateralus, and Aenima are the ones to get first. If you buy them both at the same time just be careful, because listening to two albums of this caliber back to back could put you in a state of shock.
