Dang, that's too bad. It really is a nice kit (AW-D3). Hope you get it soon! I really like mine.

Take a look at the HagUSB. I have one (fully modded with high end components), and the analog out from it has a good sound in my opinion. It also provides a SPDIF out for when you decide to upgrade to a higher end DAC.

On a side note, I do wish that there was some comparison between the HagUSB and the Alien DAC. If I recall, both use DAC chips from the same family (PCM270x), just with slightly different topologies. Someone willing to do a comparison?

I picked up an Alien DAC board a while ago but haven't felt the urge to build it yet. I got it for the same reason as you. I'm tired of all the noise being picked up by my soundcard. Alternately, for less than $100 you could probably pick up an Entech Number Cruncher 203.2 DAC on Ebay. I have one in my main rig.
