Overall, the intro to the Blues Brothers' show, "I Can't Turn You Loose" is the best intro ever. In itself it is an intro.

I just watched this movie the other day (my favorite movie of all time) and thought about the intro to the album.

"By the year 2006 the music known today as the blues will only exist in the classical records department of your local public library."

and thought... how true that is.

Great pick, I just listened to this song to refresh my memory

I think the intro is done by Justin de-tuning his bass and bending the neck, at least I think I read that somewhere

I'd like to add one more to my list though: Dream Theater - Trial of Tears/It's Raining/Deep In Heaven from "Falling Into Infinity"

Pink Floyd's "Shine On You Crazy Diamond." The song is 14 minutes and the words don't start til after about 9 minutes of great music.

I always liked the beginning of Led Zep's "The Ocean," where John Bonham says "We've done four already and now we're steady and then they went 1 ...2...3...4...."

Ozzie's coughing at the beginning of "Sweet Leaf."

"Sweet Home Alabama"--"toin it up" followed by that great arpeggio thing.

WORST song intro ever:
The Who - Baba O'Reily

lol

some good intros to songs:

I really like "The Happiest Days of Our Lives", which is a 1-minute intro to "Another Brick in the Wall Pt. 2". That drum solo with the group singing right before ABinW is priceless

I also like the intro to Tarkus, by ELP, that awesome 5/4 groove really kicks.

Metallica - Enter the Sandman

Once the song starts, I'm much less interested...

"Can't you hear me knockin'" by the Rolling Stones

The intro is pure magic.
