What would it take for you to buy an iPod?

what's preventing me from joining the cult?
my iriver ihp-120.. (my only gripes are shuffle and gapless- everything else is great)

if it breaks I'll consider an ipod, but I don't see that happening anytime soon. However, if iriver or sony releases a better looking player with similar specs...

I had an ihp-120. Loved it to death. I was very anti-ipod until I got one, lol.

I got a free one about four months ago (LOL OMG PYRAMID SCAM)

I wasn't even planning on opening it. I was just going to sell it on ebay or through a forum or something. When I got the box it was so tiny. I thought to myself, "I'll just look at it."

I was amazed at the size. It's considerably thinner than the ihp-120.

I sold the iRiver a few days later. But the two devices are like apples and oranges. Different devices suit different needs. And at the time, my needs were a small, slim, simple device that played music reasonably well.

In short, I wouldn't buy an iPod. If I had to spend money I would buy the iRiver over again, simply because the features/price ratio is exellent. I did happen to get "lucky" and get an iPod for free, so here I am.

I do enjoy the device a lot though.
While at school (college campus), EVERYONE has an iPod. I kind of wish I had the iRiver just to be different, but I am happy with what I have. They all use the stock earbuds, so I feed the need to be different by using my Grados.
