Good day guys.

I'm still new to this.

I was wondering how people determine what wire gauge to use for there headphones.

Is there a simple math formula to use depending on the Oms's of your headphones?

I'm running 55ohms AKG K240MK2 and Schiit LYR amp

or am I just over thinking this...

Thanks...

I would use at least 26 gauge for flexibility for solid core silver. HGA makes braided cables  http://www.homegrownaudio.com/categories/Braided-Wire/?sort=pricedesc

Sorry I think my terminology was off.

I was asking the difference between Solid Silver core wire VS. some thing like 19thread silver wire...
Is flexibility the only difference?

Yes. Longevity. A solid core wire will have a much shorter flex life (i.e. how much flexing it can take before it fails) than an equivalent gauge stranded wire. As the number of strands go up (all else remaining equal, meaning finer wires used for the strands), so does the flex life.
