Hi again BR... looks like i'm following you around lol.

If you're a true basshead then you'll probably want a pair of BeyerDynamic DT770s... they are well renowned as being the biggest bass-monsters going...

Keep in mind that "best bass" doesn't always equal cans with the most bass!

There are cans with a more linear bass response, ones with faster/more impactful bass, etc. This is very dependant on personal preference.

HD650 and RS1. Best in based on preference to me, so. I prefer the former for deep bowl-loosening bass; and the latter for fun thumpy ear-hurting impact bass.

, so I believe that most headphones that deliver the 'most' bass tend to be those whose bass is severely bloated, undeep and 'one-noted' that absolutely overpowers what little mids and highs that those cans deliver.

I agree.

Also, midbass and low bass are two very different things and cannot necessarily be interchanged. For instance, if someone wanted hard hitting impactful synth beats, I would not recommend the dt770 :/ It is a rumbly low type of bass that doesn't really compliment most beats too well..

why can't google image search just read my mind and give me a photo of someone with subwoofers attached to the sides of their head...

(From the ones I've owned/heard) Best bass in the department of
-Amount: Beyerdynamic DT 770 (way too much).
-Fun: Sennheiser HD 25-1 (punchy, warm, slight reverbations, little bit bloated in comparison to better headphones)
-Implementation: HD 650 (not the tightest, not the most uniform, not the most low-reaching bass, but it sounds very good)
-Definition: Stax SR-404 (uniform, tight, good bass detailing, reaches very low, too little slam)
-Realism: AKG K1000 (too bad that it rolls of below 50Hz)
-Honorary mention: PS-1 (I only listened to it briefly a few times but the bass was extremely good. I can't depict what exactly I liked but I liked it a lot.)

The Stax has an excellent bass, there's just not a lot of impact. Wish I could hear the Omega IIs someday.

Just to expand on this question with out creating a new thread:

My brother is looking for some headphones with a lot of bass. He likes hip hop and rap a lot so what would be a good pair for maybe $50 and under?
