In my computer system I have been using a pair of hd600's and a Zhaolu D2 and have tried amping the 600's with first the discrete zhaolu headamp which I find lean and bright and also a gilmore lite which although sounded much better still was too in your face bright for my tastes. So, after experimenting and actually liking the warmer sound of an vintage NAD preamps headamp a little more - the clarity is not as good, but the body and voices are richer and warmer - I think I want to try a tube amp before I just go get another dac.

So, what is a good tube amplifier to pair with the hd600's in the $3-400 range? Obviously portability is not an issue and my only requirements would be enough power to drive higher impedence cans, rca inputs as well as outputs and an amp that delivers a strong warm soundstage.

Immediate ideas are the x-can v3 or darkvoice, but having never heard either of these and this being my first tube amp I would like the opinions of others.

Thanks
