Hey there!

Ok so this one might be the same same or maybe a little different.. looking for some around entry level iems for my gf as she broke her beats she got with her phone and is starting a job in the city thus she is finally letting me pick some.. unfortunately I'm trying to keep it cheaper so she wont complain I spent too much.
She mostly listens to EDM and some like girly vocalists e.g Washington, Adele, etc. most of the girls voices though aren't very high though so the thing is I think she might need something a little less V shaped than usual, but id still like to leave her with some nice bass levels and detail for the EDM,
Looked through Jokers reviews mostly and Ive come up with the Vsonic GR06 the hifiman RE ZERO or maybe just RE0's or the UE 500's..
kinda leaning towards the UE 500's because she likes the flat anti twist cable, and thinks the vsonics are ugly =p..
fortunately from reading the UE's seem to fit the sound signature being a bit warmer but with decent bass and a little less sparkle than the RE0 which I believe needs working up too.
Opinions? other options?

On another note I want to ask mostly IEM users what they think a good over ear upgrade from TF10's would be? this one I'm a bit in the dark with, i listened to a pair of hd 280's and ath m50's and not a fan of the closed in sound they give.. I was hoping around the $300 mark.. or should i just save up for hd650's?.. after these I want to step up to custom iems (spiral ear 3way) but want to try something different in between..
I listen to mostly rock and again electronic music but mostly more complex electro with lots of different sounds happening at once as opposed to dubstep or avicii style music..
Thus I really like the tf10's lots of detail and they really pick up every little sound that's there, I'd prefer maybe a little more bass punch but i like the detail, maybe a little bit more mid but not too much..

tldr..
recommendations for gf under $100 with a slightly less vshaped sound signature

wish you and me luck!

The RE-262's are excellent. They have a warmer sound with more up front mids and do vocals very well. I just sent mine back for refund because I replaced them with some Etymotic ER-4S which just make female vocals SIIIINNNNNGGGGG.

eread a review that said the 262's were pretty bright, apparently I need to do better research..
I'll get on it, just trying to avoid having lots of treble considering she's used to beats =p..
How do entymotics go with low end?.. I was going to buy those for myself a little whole ago but got hippo vb's cause they were easier to get in aus

Etymotic MC5 or if you need iPhone controls, the MC3

And don't forget the NRB Mod, it will put you back in her good graces.

+1 for the RE262

It's not so much bright as the vocals are in your face. One of my favorite IEMs of all time, and if it weren't for the SM3, I wouldn't have sold it.

+2 for the RE262 and they're not bright they actually have a warmer sound signature.  The have some of the best sounding vocals you can get imo along with a spacious soundstage, they're a really good sounding IEM and at $150 I think that's makes them a bang for your buck pair.

They do low end accurately. They do it well but it's not low low LOW...or boomy. It's tight, and, well, accurate. It also depends on the model. The ER-4P is a little better in bass quantity, less accurate but not far off. The ER-4S has less bass but more accurate but you gain detail and IMO better mids and highs (vocals, gotta LOVE vocals) with the ER-4S. I don't have experience with the others.

hmm it seems re-262's are the go.. but they seem to fall a bit passed the entry level dont get in trouble for spending too much on them bracket haha..  same with the etymotics..
so is the general concesus that my budget needs upping?

The Etys are 50 to 80 dollars a pop, come in four colors, have a 2 year warranty, and are highly tuneable with the NRB Mod.

Sounds like something I would purchase...

Good Luck with your choice, and whatever you get, I hope they work out for the both of you.

Cheers, Jim
