It's that simple/complicated. I bought a set of marshmallows and i like their sound once modded. Of course they sound muddy and muffled on the mids and lack some highs. That's the reason why I'm looking for an upgrade. I listen to everything but mainstream teen-pop, hip hop and jazz. My sources are an Iphone 2G and a 30gb 5.5G Ipod. Encoding rates are mostly 192 and 320 (all new stuff I encode at 320). Budget limit is 200$.

The Nuforce NE-7M's are probably a decent upgrade at a fair price, but if you're willing to spend more you should probably buy something better. I'm guessing Marshmallows have a warm, bassy sound when modded since I've never heard them. Good choices would probably be Atrio M5, Klipsch X10, Sleek SA6, Phonak Audeo PFE - for that price range. Phonaks might be a bit light on bass though, depending on the filter (which you can change)
