I'm looking to buy a pair of Closed headphones in the price range of $75-175. Low Impedance because I do not have an amp. The two 'phones I own now are Px-100's and JVC Marshmallows. I like them both but to my ears the PX100's are significantly better. I listen to a lot of rock; classic rock, heavy metal (nothing heavier than Iron Maiden, though), punk, progressive, indie, you get the idea.

Cheers.

Great name and avatar ... I was thinking today that if I had to pick an all-time no. 1 (a favorite that was influential and still stands the test of time), that would be it.

On topic, I, too, like the PX100's a lot for what they are. I don't think I'll be getting closed headphones, but if I were, the HD25-1 II would be on the short list.

The Equation Audio RP-15 is a good portable closed can and if you don't mind a bigger headphone the RP-21 offers a lot of bang for the buck. Both models provide good SQ, are accurate and enjoyable to listen with. Both are 32ohm and work exceptionally well un-amped.
