I've searched and found quite a lot of people using the same DAC chip ( PCM2704 ) in DIY projects. Does anyone have one at all? What do you think of it. I was just wondering what the quality is like, and will it work ok with Windows XP and OSX?

EDIT: Just found plans for the alien DAC, I thinkk I may go that route instead. I'd still be interested to hear from anyone who's tried this DAC tho.

Hmm, I'd like to have some more info on this, too. My SB Live is no longer alive so I'm trying to find an inexpensive solution, this certainly fulfills portability and convenience reqs.

This sounds great, but we don't like to support this guy since he ripped of Meier's amp design. I'd like to see Justin from HeadAmp build a cable like this with an even better DAC.
