Hello, I'm wondering what source I should get... moving away from onboard audio now...

What's the best I can get for around $100 or under? Canadian of course =).

I have JVC HA-RX700 headphone and M-Audio AV-40 speakers. The speakers have a built in headphone amp which sound great and have a bass boost function - so I'm thinking upgrading my source would be best.

So, DAC, soundcard, whatever would be the best I'll take into consideration.

I say for the lower budget a Xonar DX may be the best choice.

Some may have another idea for you...

So what's the best between the two? Powering both speakers and headphones mentioned above.

M-Audio Audiophile 2496 sound card or the Xonar DX? I COULD use the MIDI in the 2496 soundcard.... but if the Xonar is that much better sound quality wise I can go for that.
