i'm quite disatisfied with them. i find them muddy. itried to like em, ireally gave them a chance. but compared to er4p, they are just not cutting it,

here are my options.
*return it and take the hit of 15% restocking fee
*shell out 60 more bucks or so and get another pair of er4p
*use them for a week then decide

any help woul be much apreciated.

I'd go for choice 1 and just pretend the 15% was a "trial" fee.

That's what I was wondering precisely. If they cancel the restocking fee, you might want to sink that money into the ER-4p. Or try something else of equal or more value.

listen to them some more. i have some and didn't like their recessed/muddy qualities. now, i like them a lot. i have "adjusted" to their sound.

More burning in your brain than the armatures. In terms of different sound signatures, I think that first impressions matter. If you're already finding faults with the sound, I wouldn't just accept it. I think it just so happens that you like a different sound.
