what portable sources w/ digital outs are currently available that can be used with the MicroDAC's USB, Coaxial and Optical inputs?

Sony's top two portable CD players, the D-NE20 and D-NE920 both come with optical out's.

what other portable sources are currently available that have digital outputs on them?

I won't give you a lecture as many others do when a question has been asked frequently, or show you the previous threads, or sarcastically mention how you should use the search function and how it's a great feature. It's a peeve of mine when members do this.

Another more recent CD player that has a digital out (optical) is the iRiver SlimX 550 (the only one of iRiver's PCDP that has one). The most popular non-portable CD player is the iRiver H1XX (H120/H140 [it had previously been referred to as the ihp120/ihp140]), and the player which most people seek. It is out of production, and is generally rarer to find than other players, but they're commonly found on eBay from various vendors and previous owners of the player. These players will allow you to use the Micro DAC with it.

The Archos Jukebox Recorder 20 also has one that would allow you to use it with the Micro DAC, though it's not as popular as the vintage iRiver and it may be harder to find.

Hope this helps.

There was a $50 PCDP at target that someone mentioned a while ago... I can't recall the model number that has optical out.

I was hoping to possibly receive new input about current products. the threads I read before mostly listed products you can no longer purchase. one that I read and keep bookmarked was the "Relevance of HeadRoom MicroDAC for Portables" and it didn't really tell me anything. you have have just told me of two products that I did not know about. I did not know iRiver was still making a product with a digital out by what I had previously read in the forums. I reckon I should have looked more.

I mostly purchased me MicroDAC to use with me iMac but since it is a portable and a mate to me MicroAmp I sure would like to have a really good portable source with a digital out to mate up with it.

I was starting to think a portable CD player was me best option of which I would still like to have one. I like the Sony's but I was hoping there might be a manufacturer that I might be overlooking.

I'm a big fan of portable MD recorders but that's a dead end. I want the iPod to do it but we know this is a dead end too.

I'll have to check out the iRiver and Archos. it's products like these that are also Mac compatible(that I failed to mention) that I am looking for as well as portable CD players.

thank you for your help! if ya know of any good threads please post them for me, thanks again..

They don't make these players anymore. Archos' recent player, the 604, has a digital out that you would be able to use with the Micro DAC. It's a video/audio player: http://www.archos.com/products/video...global&lang=en

It appears, though, that for most manufacturers, the digital out is not a priority for their future DAPs.

To clarify what was probably just a typo.....the iRiver H1xx is a hard drive player.
