Hi everyone. Simple question, what player, in your opinion, does fit the ER6i best? I am deciding between three players, which are all the best in sound i guess.

Anyone tried out the ER6i with one of these w/o any amplification?

I own a pair of regular 6's and they work well with the iPod.

The Etymotic Research website states: "6i Isolator Earphones are designed specifically for use with the Apple iPod® and other small portable players, providing greater sound output and enhanced bass."

Any of the players are good - more important will be source material.

Agreed. By and large all three of those players should replicate the source material very well.

I wouldn't decide a player from headphones, though.. that seems a bit extreme especially if the actual player disappoints you in many other aspects.

I run mine unamped from an iPod Nano and an iPod 4G/photo, and love it with both.

I am very happy with the iPod 5g and ER6i combination. I would think any of the mentioned players would match fine. A major factor for me (besides SQ) would be what I thought about the player interface and size. etc.

I think you'll find that the ER-6i is an excellent choice for use with any one of the players mentioned.
