It's been a while since I have posted or sold anything on this site. Not by choice but rather overcoming serious tinnitus in both ears. I am going to have to sell most of all my equipment that I have that's been in proper controlled storage. But before I post anything. I have noticed that the classifieds have change. Most look like good changes. The one thing I'm confused about is accepted payments. I live in Virginia and PayPal and VA rip me a new one for anything using G&S. Now I don't want to go against any rules on these forums but I also need to sell my equipment because it needs to go to good homes that can utilize them.

I have 100% on the classifieds here and other forums. But it looks like the feedback may have been changed here. I am not fully understanding how it works now. If I have anyone pay with PPFF anywhere I white glove every transaction with detailed packing photos and a label made from pirateship and provide photos of the drop off receipt and watch the tracking all the way to your door. That might be too much but, to me. I feel like that's the least I can do to make sure any one that buys from me gets exactly what they ordered. Also my rule of thumb is (I like the new rules on this). I sell things for what I paid for or less to give others a chance to get great equipment and use them as well without selling their first born.

TLDR; just trying to get a better understanding what is acceptable payments and how the new classifieds work. I read the new rules but I not comprehending them fully I guess

PS: Also about the classifieds score? Mine says 68. That’s the part I’m confused about. Maybe it’s because I’m using my phone and a computer would show differently

Yes your classifieds rating shows as 68 which I personally think is plenty high.

What some do is list the GS price inclusive of fees and a discounted FF price. Then it's up to the buyer to decide if they want the purchase protection or not.

Forgot to mention that there were a string of scams in this new classifieds, so if you've been inactive for a while, GS is probably what you'll need to do. Really up to you and the buyer, but that's the recommended form of payment.

That stinks that people want to take advantage of anyone anyways. Especially people that just want to sell their equipment to get something different. I guess I'm stuck with this equipment. Unfortunately I won't be able to do G&S because of the PayPal taxes. Lol for example if I sold something for $100 then I would be taxed so much. I would be out close to $50. Not sure if posting my feedback from another forum would give anyone peace of mind. I like blades too but I won't post the site unless I have approval to do so

What happened was a bunch of accounts were hacked, all older and inactive. Then those kids would post sale ads under those old accounts ridiculously cheap, like an LCD-4 for $1200. Take multiple payments and never ship anything.

The PayPal thing is supposed to kick in after $600 profit for the year, but we'll see how that actually pans out during tax season.

that stinks!!

Yes per https://www.paypal.com/us/smarthelp...he-form-1099-k-reporting-requirements-faq3895 it was 600 but Virginia somewhere stated $600 at zero transactions. So regardless if it were $100. If they deem it to be a transaction then it's filed

But now there is a new update. I'm trying to comprehend it. lol.

In the end, If I am able to reach out to mods or someone over the classifieds or maybe give those with an upstanding account permission to use anything other than G&S that would great too. But only if given permission

Regarding the Classifieds, I don't know if it's a matter of permission. Yes, the rules are in place but they also say to use the classifieds at your own risk, meaning it's a convenience Head-Fi provides and they're not liable for any loss between the buyer and seller. If you list the GS price and someone asks for a discount for FF, it's between the two of you.

You're welcome--some people say it, some don't. I don't want to imply it's a free for all but you can look through listings.

Head-Fi strongly recommends PayPal GS only, as does Reddit AVexchange. But that was in place before the reporting--now on Reddit, they seem to openly allow the GS price plus the FF discounted price. But straight up saying Cash App or PayPal FF only, that I recommend against personally. But I have no power... I'm not the boss of classifieds or there to police it.

Oh I almost forgot to say... this question was sent to me for review but I'm not being paid to answer, as usual all thoughts and opinions are my own.

You only have to pay taxes for items you sell for a profit. If you buy some thing for $125 then sell it for $100, you don't need to pay taxes on that $100. So you can go ahead and use PayPal G&S, just keep records of everything you buy and sell so you have proof you're selling at a loss
