What passive speakers would be a good upgrade from JBL LSR305 for desktop PC use?

I can't seem to find a good choice because everything I find the reviews say either the treble is piercing or the bass is trash.

I am treble sensitive so definitely prefer a warmer sound.

Thinking maybe $500 range?

Pissing me off that I can't seem to find a good pair of passive speakers. I remember 5 years ago this guy on reddit's vinyl sub was like "oh you use powered monitors? you must not know much about audio" He pissed me off so much!!

The market for passive monitors has gone down a lot and they are now in the minority. I have a pair of JBL Control 5s which I think are great. But monitors are not designed to be enjoyable, they are designed for music production. You won't get a warm or cold sound on any good monitor. And because of the driver size you will not get good bass.

Most people are using powered monitors. Unless you spend a lot of money you're going to live with noise. And the bass will still be lacking, that's just physics.

If you want speakers to enjoy music rather than produce it, consider something other than a pair of monitors.
