I would definitely get rid of that SB Live card you have! Try the emu series of soundcards or the av-710 (if using an amp)! Also watch out with your mp3 files they can be deceiving, especially if they are 128-192kbps, try using WAV/FLAC might help your 555 out even more.

Hmmz, which one of the emu series? I don't use/have an amp so no av-710 for me (and how is this one with midi/recording?)
My mp3's are most of the times 192 kbps or higher...Isn't that good enough?

AV710 worked just fine with games when I used it. I'd sell the SB Live and use only AV710.

Hmmz I'm really thinking to buy the X-fi Xtrememusic, because someone said this (translated):

Althought 110 Euro for the Xtrememusic (without 64 mb extra) sounds much, it's worth all of the money. Because when you realise that professional audiocards, that produce now a days the same qua dsr <--> asr like an x-fi, that are around the same price, you still have more possibilities with the X-fi and beter gaming posibilities (EAX/cmss-3dheadphone).

Hmmz really doubting now
