I'm doubting...well, I know it's pretty cheap, but I just need a good soundcard for music and producing for headphones. And I agree with your point about the SB/gaming.

By producing I'm guessing you need recording capabilities? I'm doubtful of the quality of the ADCs on the Chaintech, but they might cut it if you're doing real casual stuff. I don't know of any recording-geared cards sub-$100, come to think of it.

Yes, I want to record, not only midi, but also just by connecting a keyboard to my soundcard (via line - in). The soundquality now is really bad. I want better quality, close to studioquality?

let's say around 120 euro.

You should also check all mixer inputs/outputs you are not using and lower ans mute them. That could help for the noise.

That was just a general tip for lowering noise as Mr. Bojangles said in this thread that he got some noise with crappy soundcard.

Ok

but it sounds pretty 'dull' so I get its just the soundcard.

Well, if you have a budget of 120EUR, don't bother with the Chaintech.

I want to use it for my keyboard (yamaha PSR 2000) in combination with Cubase...

Emu 1212m € 188.99
emu 0404 € 100,00
ap192 ?? Not available in holland?
Esi Juli@ €149,00
onkyo se-150 ????? Not available in holland?

What would be a good choice? I just want the best 'budget' card, so just the 'best' one for the 'best' price....

I agree, you can NEVER go wrong with a 10-euro amp

Keep your SB for gaming so that you dont have to factor-in the gaming aspect when your looking for the soundcard that you plan to use for audio.

speedo, I'd recommend buying them online =P 188 euros for the emu 1212m sounds... a little over the top =_=; shipping fees shouldn't be too high for soundcards anyway.

ap192=audiophile 192 if you didn't know already.

emu 0404 € 100,00
Esi Juli@ €149,00
onkyo se-150 ????? Not available in holland?
