Just wondering what people thought of this comparison. I like the upper end of the 80's. It gives them extra airiness so I would hate to get the ms2's and find out they are lacking this quality. It sure is hard when you can't actually hear them for yourself.Of course, too bright is a no no too. Although, I have found that what some people think are bright is ok with me. Just wondering.

I think the Grado comparision goes like this.

SR60>RS2
Sr80>SR225>RS1
SR125>SR325i

I would say the MS2i would fit you better.

Are the 325s brighter than the 80/225s?

Yeah the 325s should be Grado's brightest cans.

On grado's homepage is written that the SR125 sound very similar to the RS1. I think they have really a good comparison of their cans there. check:
Grado Labs, Inc.

Well, descriptions on companies websites rarely tell the ultimate truth... SR125 is said to be quite raw sounding headphone, and my RS1 is definetly not bright nor raw. But then again, I'll never know till I hear SR125 myself.

So, Ms2i's will give me the grado sound and more detail without all of the brightness?I love the foot stomping sound of my 225's and want more, but can only afford a $300 phone.I don't want something that is too bright though.I know my 80's with some songs could be too bright.

The ms2i is very transparent and dependent on the recording. In the beginning I thought that the ms2i was rolled off in the hights, but this is not the case.

When listening to "Bonny Tyler - Total eclipse of the heart", ms2i have about as much treble as the dt990 (dt990 is a treble heavy headphone), but when listening to recordings which does not have much treble, ms2i will not add any, and might even sound rolled of compared to dt880/dt990. This is with bowls, as I use them 95% of the time. With flats, the hights are pushed back a bit too much for my taste.

EDIT: I'm not very treble sensitive though. But It is VERY rare that I find the hights of ms2i harsh in any way. Even with "Bonny Tyler - Total eclipse of the heart", the hights are VERY present but very beautiful and sparkly, not harsh at all. There are times when I would like a little bit more treble if the song is treble light.
