I'm interested in learning more about headphones + IEM's so instead of just purchasing what's recommended I can make some educated purchases on my own.

Is there a guide anywhere for this? What to look for in a headphone/IEM and how it effects the headphone etc.?

Sort of like a noobies guide to being an audiophile as the title states.

I'm not sure if it's that newbies here (I may even still consider myself one) are using a forum for the first time when they post stuff like this, but when you go on a headphone discussion forum, it helps to look in the headphones section. Those threads are stickied for obvious reasons.
