What made your day awesome?

Took the day off (my birthday is tomorrow) and spent most of the day at my local guitar shop. While playing as many guitars as humanly possible, I found this 2007 Gretsch Electromatic Corvette, signed by Fred Gretsch. As soon as I played it, I knew I couldn't leave without it. It was filthy, and had some dings, so I got it pretty cheap. A little TLC and a new set of strings, and she looks and sounds great.

Finished off all my appointments yesterday in the burning weather as a heat wave was descending upon New York City. During all this had a nice side trip and picked up some TROMA horror movies I ordered from AMAZON. So now its just a weekend of laying back in my air conditioned apartment chilling with TROMA movies on my Ultrasone HFI-780 headphones along with a game or two of SKYRIM.

Happy Birthday

Thanks. SWMBO was less than thrilled with the purchase, but I told her, "Lots of guys buy Corvettes when they get in their mid-fifties. This was a lot cheaper than a real Corvette".

My wife listened to the latest album by the National, finally recognizing the true value of my HD600. Then she gave me a blowjob, made my day..

The latest album is AMAZING. And, ooooo. lol.

I went to T.H.E Show in Newport Beach today and got to listen to Audeze LCD 2 and 3 and Sennheiser HD800 headphones, Schiit Mjolnir and Gungnir amp/dac, and the Hifiman RE-600 iems.  I'd been quite curious about them for a long time.  It was a blast.

The new Alo Audio headphone amp behemoth paired with the HD800 sounded really nice.  I stopped counting the cost for the entire chain when I got to $6500 though. . .

Interestingly, I spent the most time with the Schiit Lyr and Hifiman HE-500.  Might have to get me a Lyr.

Today was a good day.

I went to T.H.E Show too!  I currently have the LCD-2 and was curious about the HD800.  I got the chance to compare both using the same setup.  Although the HD800 sounds great, and extremely comfortable to wear, I still enjoy the sound of the LCD-2 a little more.  I also got to listen to the Benchmark DAC2 D, which sounded very good; detailed, transparent, and smooth.  (I already ordered the DAC2 D few days ago, and should arrive in 4 days.)
