warm, lush and detailed is how i like it. deep bass, clear mids, airy treble.

obviously, the more $ you spend, the closer to your ideals you will get, however even the best iems will not do imaging like headphones/speakers, but they can do everything else.

I like Bass/Mid-bass with just enough detail and presence in the mids and high-end. No muddiness, just crisp sound. If I were to transport my sound on an equalizer it would look like this:

|\......_.|(+10)
|.\__/...|(0)
|......... |(-10)

It's all about the "soundstage" for me. The balance of all of the instruments and vocals spread out across the imaginary stage in my mind.
It's hard to get the bass response from IEM's that you can enjoy with full size cans but many come close.
I prefer full instrumental soundtracks and newage accoustics to rock and jazz. It sounds dorky but some of my favorites peices are newer Disney Movie soundtracks. As well as anything John Williams. Though I must say that my ten Y/O pointed me in the direction of some "Plain White T's". Surprisingly full peices.
