A couple of years ago I picked up the mx700 logitech wireless mouse, at the time it was top of the line.

I currently used it for my digital imaging, the rating was 800 dpi,

Just recently I picked up a plasma Diamond back mouse for my lap top and decided to use it on my pc to replace my logitech for a bit, since the logitech battery was acting funny lately.

The Diamondback was rated at 1600dpi,

when I plugged it in to do some work, I couldnt believe how much more accuracy I was getting with digital photo editing. I was flabberghasted.
This has got to be the smoothest mouse I have ever used. The whole design of the mouse is also much easier on the hands, I get a lot of cramping with the logitech but the razer's are the most comfortable to use when working in minute incremental movements.

Anyhow the diamondback mouse was dedicated to laptop use, and so the home pc still needed to get a mouse upgrade, so I went ahead and picked up the Razer Copperhead which was rated at 2000 dpi.

I never knew gaming mice were so accurate. They blow away the conventional mices out of the water.

Dude, if you work with digital photography or imaging, you have to try out a razer mouse, I dont even use it for gaming, but the accuracy of these mouse controllers are so sharp. I cant think of a better mouse.

I say forget the microsoft and logitech flagship mx1000, those have a smaller DPI rating.

You have to try the razer mouse. Theyre freakin awesome.

I'm using Diamondback Plasma + Steelpad QCK mousepad. To me, the mousepad makes more difference

At home I use a very simple optical Logitech (~$14 in Walmart or Bestbuy a while ago):

At work I don't use any, have perfectly adapted, for a few years now, to the little red stub of the IBM laptops.

I actually went ahead and purchased a optical mouse gaming pad.

This is like an incredible upgrade tool to use with my work. Its incredible, I hope the special mouse pad made for gaming improves its accuracy even more.

I dont even play FPS games, my pc is too slow. But the accuracy!!!!!!!!, makes my work load much easier.

i do a lot work that requires fine movement, I literally have to alter pixel to pixel increments. with my old logitech mx700 I would skip a couple pixels here and there, and when I draw curves with it I get a jaggies sometimes.

with the razer I get a perfectly round line, and this thing gets between every pixel no skipping. It was a blast lol.

I'm guessing you figured out it was a female because there was no trackball?

I say the MX1000 is the nicest mouse I have ever used. Mostly because it fits my hand perfectly, so I enjoy using it far more than any other mouse, including the Razers.

I use both the MX1000 and the MX518

I've been using my trusty Logitech MX500 since they were first introduced

MX510. Don't spend so much on mice any more since I stopped playing Doom seriously. On my previous system, the mouse was more than 10% of the entire system price...

I also don't buy crappy overpriced mousemats. I use Allsops now because they last forever, but when I played games, I preferred $1 fabric mousemats. They rapidly become useless as they accumulate dust, but they're brilliant for about a week, and even buying one a week it's still only $52 per year...plus you get to choose different colours.
