Hi, what kind of amp would I need for a Denon AH-D5000 Reference Headphones? I don't want a portable amp I want a plugged in one.

It will be helpful for other members to give you a recommendation if you give some more information-- particularly your budget.

My favorite for the Denons is the Leben CS300 (of those I have heard). The Denons are fairly neutral and I prefer a little more of a musical, warm presentation and the Leben adds that. It is an integrated amp so you can run speakers from it as well. It is a real beauty but fairly expensive. There are a lot of very good amps at lower prices that will do very well with the Denons though.

I agree there are many home amps which allow the D5000 to sound great. For example (in no particular order):

1. Singlepower MPX3 Slam SE
2. Blue Circle
3. Musical Fidelity X-Can V2 w/ PinkFloyd Mods and a Little Pinkie PSU
4. O1 Amp/Dac
5. Graham Slee Solo or Novo amps
6. Head Direct EF1

For my D5000s, the Musical Fidelity X-Can V8 works beautifully. $550 from AudioAdvisor.com. But I have not tried other amps with them for comparison.
