What is Your Headphone Spending to Head-Fi Posts Ratio?
Sep 18, 2005 at 4:03 AM Post #77 of 94
Headphones:
HD580 - $130
SR-325i - $250ish

Sources:
20gb Dell DJ $200
Modded EMU 0404 - $170

Amps:
PPA - $450
APH-47 - $50ish

Cables: $40

About $1.10 or so for each post.. I used to have a more extravagant rig, but college tuition took care of that..

Since joining Head-Fi... some rough numbers 'cause anything more in-depth would scare the hell out of me.

HD580 (gone) + Oehlbach, HD650 + Zu, SR325i, HF-1, E4c
Headphone & Replacement Cable Total: $1400

MINT, PPA v2 & M^3 (The Millett was a gift... lucky me!!!)
DIY Amp Total: $600

Total: $2000

Post Total: 156 in 10 months (Yeah, I lurk... A LOT)

$2000/156 = $12.82 per post

Considering I had both Denon players & my iPod before joining, that's not spending anything on sources... Oh no! And that's not even considering what the Head-Fi music forum has done to me! I fear most of the damage to my wallet comes from the combination of that place and living upstairs from a record store!

So what are my options? Post more to bring the ratio down, or stop posting all together fearing that it continue to cost me $12.82 per post?

I refuse to assign exact numbers to what I've done on this site, if I do I'll likely leave and never come back....

DIY Startup Capital (tools, parts, etc...): $500
Headphones:HD600, SR225 (now gone, net 0), HF1, HD201, KSC35 (broken), KSC75, PtoS adapter: $500
Amps: Jesus help me... MINT x2, PIMETA, M3, PPA, Millett(s) not included (see next section):$750
Millett Hybrid Project: prototyping phase for the PCBs $300, 4 amps: $800
Projects to be completed, or "the parts bin": $400

All told, an easy $3,250 in less than a year and I don't even have a source...

So call it $3/post.
